FAQ
Below you’ll find answers to common questions about my practice, approach, and what to expect when working together.
Do you work with children, teens, and adults?
Yes. I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. While much of my work focuses on child behavior, parenting, and family conflict, I also provide individual therapy for men and couples therapy for partners navigating stress, miscommunication, or parenting differences.
What ages do you typically see for child therapy?
I most commonly work with children and teens (ages 8-18) who are struggling with emotional regulation, conflict at home, school challenges, or behavioral patterns that feel overwhelming.
I tailor the approach to your child’s developmental stage and involve parents as needed to support meaningful progress.
Do you work with parents as part of child therapy?
Yes. In my experience, therapy is most effective when parents are actively involved. Early in the process especially, I work closely with parents to help them understand what’s driving their child’s behavior and how to respond in ways that build skills rather than escalate conflict.
What approach do you use in therapy?
My work is grounded in decades of research on attachment, resilience, and development. I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, psychoanalytic principles, and the Gottman Method for couples. My approach is active and collaborative, with a focus on practical tools and steady progress.
What makes your practice different?
I bring over 25 years of experience working at the intersection of child behavior, parenting, and couple dynamics. My background includes advanced training at Harvard Medical School and ongoing work informed by long-term developmental research. I focus on understanding the full family system so that change is meaningful and sustainable—not temporary.
Do you offer couples therapy?
Yes. I am Gottman Level 3 trained and work with couples who are experiencing recurring conflict, communication breakdowns, or parenting stress. My goal is to help partners understand their patterns, strengthen emotional awareness, and rebuild a steadier partnership.
Do you offer online therapy?
Yes. I provide in-person sessions in Wellesley Hills and secure telehealth sessions to clients throughout Massachusetts. Online therapy can be an effective and convenient option for many individuals and families.
Do you accept insurance?
I am not an in-network provider for insurance plans. If your insurance includes out-of-network benefits, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement after meeting your deductible. I encourage you to contact your insurance company to understand your specific coverage.
How long does therapy typically last?
The length of therapy depends on your goals, the nature of the concerns, and the pace of progress. Some families seek focused support around a specific issue, while others engage in longer-term work to address deeper patterns. We discuss goals early on and revisit them regularly.
What can I expect in the first session?
Our first meeting focuses on understanding your concerns, history, and goals. I ask thoughtful questions to clarify patterns and begin developing a structured plan for moving forward. You will leave with a clearer sense of direction and next steps.
Do you collaborate with schools or other providers?
When appropriate, yes. For children and adolescents especially, collaboration with teachers, school counselors, or other professionals can be an important part of supporting progress across environments.
How do I get started?
The first step is reaching out to schedule a consultation. We’ll briefly discuss what’s bringing you in, determine whether we’re a good fit, and talk through next steps. From there, we can schedule an initial appointment and begin the process.
